Zahra Karinshak is a military veteran and dedicated public servant who has served under five Presidents -- Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama -- and for one Georgia Governor, Roy E. Barnes.  

Karinshak graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1989.  Upon graduation, she served as an intelligence officer during the first Gulf War.  Throughout her military service, Zahra received many awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal. 

After her military service, Karinshak returned her home state of Georgia, where she attended Emory University School of Law.  She has enjoyed a wide variety of legal experience from working with judges, working at a large law firm, and now working as an owner (with her Partners) of a mid-sized law firm.  Karinshak is considered a top lawyer in Georgia and her peers have ranked her as a top 100 Georgia Super Lawyer.

Karinshak also served as a lawyer for Georgia Governor Roy E. Barnes where she helped change the Georgia flag, among other achievements. After that, she served as a federal prosecutor in Atlanta for eight years where she successfully prosecuted cases involving fraud, public corruption, violent crime, child exploitation, human trafficking, sex trafficking, and other crimes.  

Karinshak’s campaign is currently endorsed by numerous current and former public officials and organizations, including former President Barack Obama, former U.S. Representative George “Buddy” Darden, former Governor Roy Barnes, VoteVets, the Atlanta and North Georgia Building and Trades Council, Georgia Advancing Progress PAC, Georgia WIN List, Georgia Stonewall Democrats, and NARAL.
