Sheila Jackson Lee is the U.S. Representative for Texas's 18th congressional district, serving since 1995. The district includes most of central Houston. She currently serves on the Budget, Homeland Security, and Judiciary Committees.
Considered by many as the “Voice of Reason”, Sheila Jackson Lee is dedicated to upholding the Constitutional rights of all people. She is currently the first female Ranking Member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations and is leading the way on criminal justice reform.
A supporter of the Iran nuclear negotiations, Sheila Jackson Lee voted in favor of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015 and for the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Sheila Jackson Lee served as a co-host to PAAIA’s annual Nowruz reception on Capitol Hill and is the co-sponsor of H.Res.211, recognizing the cultural and historical significance of the Iranian New Year.
