U.S. House of Representatives (D-52nd/CA)
Scott H. Peters represents California's 52nd congressional district. The district includes coastal and central portions of the city of San Diego. Peters previously served two terms on the San Diego City Council from 2000 to 2008. He currently serves on the Energy & Commerce and the Veterans’ Affairs Committees.
A supporter of the Iran nuclear negotiations, Peters voted in favor of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015 and for the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Peters serves as a co-host to PAAIA’s annual Nowruz receptions on Capitol Hill and is the co-sponsor of H.Res.211, recognizing the cultural and historical significance of the Iranian New Year. He also served as an honorary co-host of the opening reception to celebrate A Thousand Years of the Persian Book exhibition at Library of Congress in March of 2013.
