 Scott H. Peters represents California's 52nd congressional district. The district includes coastal and central portions of the city of San Diego. Peters previously served two terms on the San Diego City Council from 2000 to 2008. He currently serves on the House Budget and Energy & Commerce Committees.

 Peters is an original cosponsor of H.Res.1008 upholding the civil liberties and civil rights of Iranian Americans. He also serves as a co-host to PAAIA’s annual Nowruz receptions on Capitol Hill and is the co-sponsor of  H.Res.211recognizing the cultural and historical significance of the Iranian New Year.


Peters is the sponsor of H.R.8617 the Temporary Family Visa Act. The legislation would establish a new B-3 nonimmigrant visa category allowing U.S. citizens and permanent residents to petition for their family members to visit them temporarily.
