Throughout his tenure in Congress, Forbes has focused on solutions-based leadership to tackle issues such as economic recovery, health care, tax reform, and government spending.

Forbes was a cosponsor of H.Res.267.  The resolution, which recognizes the cultural and historical significance of Nowruz and expresses appreciation to Iranian Americans for their contributions to society, passed the U.S. House of Representatives in March of 2010.  In addition, he is an original co-sponsor of H.Res130, acknowledging the Cyrus Cylinder as a symbol of respect for human rights and religious tolerance and commemorating the cylinder’s tour in the United States.

Forbes signed and supported a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry calling on the administration to prioritize the release of Amir Hekmati, an Iranian American and Marine veteran who has been detained in Iran since August 2011.

Forbes is a co-host of PAAIA’s annual Nowruz reception on Capitol Hill.
