Dr. (Colonel) Milad L Pooran is a Regional Medical Director for Sound Physicians and founder and President of Anacostia Medical Associates in Washington DC. Prior to entering the private health care sector, Dr. Pooran spent 7 years at the National Institutes of Health studying HIV/AIDS. He served in the office of the Secretary for Health and Human Services developing national policy for biodefense and medical intelligence. He is triple board certified in internal medicine, critical care medicine, and Allergy & Immunology. Dr. Pooran is recipient of the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth Distinguished Alumni award in 2013.
Colonel Pooran is the State Air Surgeon for the state of Connecticut where he serves as the senior medical advisor to the Adjutant General. He was commissioned in the United States Air Force Reserve in 1999 as a member of the Maryland Air National Guard. He has served on active duty in support of flying operations on all seven continents and has held operational assignments as well as medical leadership positions within the Air Force. He is a senior flight surgeon and has participated in numerous deployments worldwide to include critical care air transport of severely ill and wounded service members from Afghanistan, combat support at the theatre hospital in Balad Iraq, post conflict emergency preparedness development in Sarajevo Bosnia, Hurricane Katrina relief in New Orleans LA, and was the sole military representative at the decommissioning of the Sole Pole Station Antarctica in 2008. Colonel Pooran has deployed for Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, CORONET OAK, PELICAN, IRAQI FREEDOM, NOBLE EAGLE, DEEP FREEZE, and ENDURING FREEDOM.
