Leila Abdi
Leila Abdi is an associate at Finnegan Henderson Farabow Garrett and Dunner in the firm's Electrical and Computer Technology Practice Group. Her practice includes all aspects of patent prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including the preparation of patent applications, conducting Examiner interviews and filing appeals to the Board of Patent Appeals for patent applications involving software, telecommunications, Internet technologies, and business methods including e-business and financial solutions. Additionally, she has supported litigations involving infringement and validity disputes, and has also drafted patentability and clearance opinions.
Before joining Finnegan Henderson, Ms. Abdi worked
as a patent agent at an Intellectual Property
firm in Virginia. There she prepared and prosecuted
applications involving relational database technology,
e-commerce and business methods, computer networking
and architecture, telecommunications, and artificial
intelligence.
Prior to entering law school, Ms. Abdi worked
as a software developer for Accenture where she
helped develop software for Bellsouth's financial
sector for local calling as well has helping to
develop software solutions for Bellsouth launch
of long distance. While earning her degree in
Computer Science, Ms. Abdi taught and developed
curriculum for a Computer Science course at Georgia
Tech which covered topics ranging from Java, Perl,
HTML to Networking. Ms. Abdi also studied various
aspects of systems programming, networking, telecommunications,
human-computer interaction, software engineering,
theory of computation, database systems, and educational
technology.
