Jamie Raskin is a is the U.S. Representative for Maryland's 8th congressional district. Raskin serves on the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform Committees.  He was recently selected by Speaker Pelosi to serve in the House Democratic Leadership. 

Prior to serving in Congress, Raskin was a three-term Democratic State Senator in Maryland, the State Senate Majority Whip, and a dynamic leader in Annapolis who has been at the center of the breakthrough policy changes Maryland has experienced over the last decade. A professor of constitutional law at American University’s Washington College of Law for the last 25 years, Raskin has also taught at Yale Law School and has had thousands of students and authored several books. 

Raskin believes that comprehensive immigration reform must be a top priority to break the deadlock in Congress and the country.  He is a cosponsor of legislation that would repeal President Trump’s Travel Ban Executive Order and ensures that the exclusion of entry is maintained for those who pose a real threat to the United States.

Raskin cosponsored a bipartisan amendment to the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act that would prohibit taxpayer dollars from being used for military operations against Iran without explicit authorization from Congress.
