Greg Walden represents Oregon’s second congressional district. He is a member of the House Republican leadership, serving as the Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). He is also serves on the House Energy & Commerce Committee and chair’s its Subcommittee on Communications & Technology. He is in line to become the next chair of Energy & Commerce.
As the chairman of the subcommittee on Communications and Technology, Walden has worked to pass legislation to expand access to wireless broadband, spur new U.S. technology and innovation, and protect the Internet from government control.
While he is opposed to amnesty for non documented immigrants, Walden has voted to increase visas for foreign workers and increased funding for refugee resettlement to allow for an increase of 10,000 refugees in 2016. Walden voted in favor of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015, but along with the rest of the Republican delegation in both chambers of Congress voted against the JCPOA.
