Chuck Hagel
U.S. Senate (R-NE)

"Thank your for contribution. I am grateful for your friendship and your support of my efforts in the U.S. Senate. At this critical time in history, America must inspire trust and confidence in the world and hope for future generations. These challenges will require bold and courageous leadership. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of America’s leadership. Please know that I will always do my best and work hard to continue to earn your confidence and support."

Chuck Hagel, Nebraska’s senior U.S. Senator, is serving his second term in the United States Senate.  Prior to his election to the U.S. Senate, Hagel worked in the private sector as the President of McCarthy & Co., an investment-banking firm based in Omaha, Nebraska, and served as Chairman of the Board of American Information Systems (AIS).

In 1981, President Ronald Reagan nominated Hagel to serve as Deputy Administrator of the Veterans Administration, a nomination confirmed by the United States Senate. Hagel also served as Deputy Commissioner General of the United States for the 1982 World’s Fair.

Hagel served in Vietnam with his brother Tom in 1968. They served side by side as infantry squad leaders with the U.S. Army’s 9th Infantry Division. Hagel earned many military decorations and honors, including two Purple Hearts.

A proponent of comprehensive immigration reform, Hagel is a sponsor of S.2611, which offers a path to citizenship for undocumented workers. The legislation also sets forth backlog reduction provisions respecting: (1) family-sponsored and employment-based immigrant levels; (2) country limits; (3) immigrant visa allocations; (4) minor children; (5) shortage occupations; and (6) student and advanced degree visas.
