Chris Van Hollen
U.S. Senate (D-MD)
Chris Van Hollen is the junior United States Senator for Maryland. He currently serves on the Appropriations, Banking & Urban Affairs, Budget, and the Environment & Public Works Committees. Senator Van Hollen served as Chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) from 2017 to 2019.
Before joining the U.S. Senate, Van Hollen served in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Maryland’s 8th congressional district from 2003 to 2017. He served in the Maryland State Assembly
Van Hollen (D-MD) introduced an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2019 State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act that would require public reporting on President Trump’s Travel Ban Executive Order. His efforts to reveal the number of waivers issued under the Travel Ban has been instrumental to the ongoing legal challenges against the order.
Van Hollen is also a cosponsor of legislation that would repeal the Travel Ban and ensures that the exclusion of entry is maintained for those who pose a real threat to the United States.
