Chris Van Hollen

U.S. Senate (D-MD)

Chris Van Hollen is the U.S. Representative from Maryland's 8th congressional district serving since 2003. He currently serves as the Ranking Member on the powerful House Budget Committee.  From 2006 – 2008, Van Hollen was the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), the fifth-ranking position among House Democrats.

Van Hollen is the Democratic nominee for the U. S. Senate to replace retiring Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD).

Van Hollen is a co-sponsor of The Equal Protection in Travel Act of 2016 (H.R.4380).  The legislation would strip the discriminatory dual nationality provisions contained in the visa waiver program reforms passed into law lin December of 2015.

A proponent of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, Van Hollen’s support for the nuclear agreement with Iran was seen by many observers as a “tipping point” in the debate over whether or not Congress would reject the international accord.
