Having been born Houston, Texas, yet spending most of her childhood growing
up in Kuwait, Bahareh Azizi takes pride in her multi-cultural up bringing.
Her experiences have provided her with an international perspective that she
hopes to put to use on the Atlanta City Council's District 6 seat.
Azizi received her bachelor's degree in biochemistry and biotechnology from
Michigan State University and then moved to Atlanta to pursue a doctorate
degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Upon her completion, Azizi
joined the staff of the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2005 where she is
known as the teacher who connects well with students. Azizi was also chosen
to co-host the educational program Science Investigators on PBS.
Azizi's campaign is rooted in what she believes are the three greatest
challenges facing Atlanta: crime, the city's budget, and transportation. She
is a firm supporter of increasing the number of police officers on the
street while utilizing the current force more efficiently. Furthermore,
Azizi encourages researching alternative forms of revenue for the city to
reduce the burden of additional taxes on Atlanta residents. Azizi states, "I
believe in Atlanta, and I know that we can work towards moving her one step
closer to reaching her true potential."
