"Thank you so much for your recent contribution to my reelection campaign. It is a great honor to serve in the United States Congress and with your kind support I will be able to continue my work focusing on issues important to both our community and nation."
John Mica
U.S. House of Representatives (R-7th/FL)

Congressman John L. Mica is currently serving his seventh term in the 109th Congress representing Florida's 7th Congressional District, which stretches across six counties from the suburban areas north of Orlando to the Jacksonville city limits.  Mica serves on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, the Government Reform Committee , and the House Administration Committee.

Congressman Mica has been recognized as a national leader in transportation issues.  He has spearheaded legislative efforts to improve our nation's infrastructure and to expedite Florida's highway and interstate expansion.  Congressman Mica has also led efforts to develop local and state transportation alternatives. In 2001, he was named Chairman of the Aviation Subcommittee.  The subcommittee has oversight of all matters regarding civil aviation including airport improvement, aviation safety and security, and other related issues.

A proponent of civil liberties, Congressman Mica is a original cosponsor of House Resolution 367 condemning discrimination and bigotry against Iranian Americans. The resolution acknowledges the diversity of the Iranian American community and their contributions to the social and economic fabric of American society.  In July of 2003, Mica voted for the Otter Amendment, which effectively prohibits any implementation of section 213 of the PATRIOT Act. Section 213 authorizes federal agents to conduct physical and electronic searches of private residences without notifying occupants for an often indeterminate amount of time.
