John Mica
U.S. House of Representatives (R-7th/FL)
John L. Mica is currently serving his 8th term in the 110th Congress representing Florida's 7th Congressional District, which stretches across six counties from the suburban areas north of Orlando to the Jacksonville city limits. Mica is a member of the Oversight & Government Reform Committee and is the ranking member on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.
Congressman Mica has been recognized as a national leader in transportation issues. He has spearheaded legislative efforts to improve our nation's infrastructure and to expedite Florida's highway and interstate expansion. Congressman Mica has also led efforts to develop local and state transportation alternatives. In 2007, he was elected by his peers his peers to serve as the Republican Leader of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Mica is an original cosponsor of House Resolution 476 condemning discrimination and bigotry against Iranian Americans. The resolution acknowledges the diversity of the Iranian American community and their contributions to the social and economic fabric of American society. At the same time, it expresses serious concern over increasing reports of discrimination against Iranian Americans and other Americans of Middle Eastern descent.
