John Campbell
U.S. House of Representative (R-48th/CA)

Congressman John Campbell is a fourth generation Californian who has lived in Irvine for over 26 years. First elected to Congress in December of 2005 special election, he brings to Washington over a quarter century of experience in the business world and a record of accomplishment in both chambers of the California Legislature.

Elected to the California Assembly in 2000, Campbell quickly earned a reputation as a leading voice for fiscal responsibility. As Vice Chairman of the Assembly Budget Committee, he successfully led efforts to prevent tax increases. Additionally, he helped establish the first-in-the-nation Do-Not-Call list, privacy protections for cell phones users and ensured that Californians could fully contribute to their retirement accounts.

Campbell represents California's 48th Congressional District, which encompasses Newport Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, and Santa Ana. According to the 2000 US Census, District 48 in California has the second largest Iranian American constituency in the nation.
Campbell plans to put his vast knowledge of the federal tax code and his experience on budget issues to work by becoming a leader in the effort to return responsible spending to Washington and reform the federal tax code.
