The legislation passed by unanimous consent on
October 18, 2001 . The Hatch resolution praises
Iranian-Americans as vibrant, peaceful, and law-abiding
citizens of the United States . The resolution
goes on to declare that, in the quest to identify,
locate, and bring to justice the perpetrators
and sponsors of the September 11, 2001 terrorist
attacks on the United States , the civil rights
and liberties of all Americans, including Iranian-Americans,
should be protected. It condemns bigotry and acts
of violence or discrimination against any Americans
and calls upon local and federal law enforcement
authorities to work to prevent and prosecute crimes
against all Americans.
